Home Remedies for Dry Socket

Dry socket is common dental problem. It is also known as alveolar Osteitis. This problem arises after removal of teeth and   is characterized by serious pain. There are number of symptoms of dry socket including:
• Visibility of uncovered bone
• Slight fever
• Unpleasant taste in the mouth
• Foul mouth smell and bad breath from mouth
• Swollen lymph nodes around neck and jaw
There are several home remedies to treat dry socket. Try these given below:

Gargles: Gargling with salted water provides you relief from the continuous pain of dry socket. Repeat this 2-3 times a  day.

 Ice Pack: Use Icepack on the dry socket to prevent jaws from swelling.

 Cold Tea bags: Cold tea bag is very helpful to get relief from dry socket. Take a cold tea bag and press it with your tooth  which is suffering from pain. The tannic acid present in cold tea bag helps to relieve the pain. This is very effective  treatment for dry socket.

 Clove (लौंग) Oil: clove oil  is very helpful to treat dry socket pain. This can be applied directly on dry socket with the help of  cotton. Take a cotton ball and dip it into olive oil and then apply this on dry socket. Repeat this remedy 3-4 times a day and  you will get results within few days. You can also apply it on aching teeth.

 Turmeric Solution: Make turmeric solution to treat dry socket. Take a glass of warm water and add 1 spoon of turmeric  powder in it. Rinse your mouth with this solution and get relief from dry socket pain.

 Tea Tree Oil: Studies concludes that tree tea oil works best for wound treatment. It is also helpful to prevent infection of  gums and tooth. Pit 2-3 drops of tea tree oil on a cotton ball. Apply this on infected area and leave for 7-8 minutes. Then  rinse mouth with lukewarm water. Repeat this 2-3 times a day.

 Avoid smoking: Chewing tobacco products or smoking is very dangerous for dry socket. Both contain harmful chemicals  that increase the risk of dry socket. They may also slow down the healing process.  So before your tooth extraction avoid  smoking completely.

 Garlic: Garlic is natural antibiotic and reduces the pain in teeth and gums instantly. Garlic can also reduce the risk of  infection. Take a piece of garlic and chew it in mouth. The juice of garlic will spread in your mouth and relief from pain  instantly.
